Two European retailers are considering entering the Bulgarian market. According to market participants, French sporting goods chain Decathlon is looking at possible locations and negotiating with developers. Olivier des Philips, responsible for the chain's local operations confirmed that the company is interested in opening a store in the capital but declined to elaborate on details.

The chain is in talks with most of the active retail parks in Sofia. Its concept includes an outlet of about 4,000 sq. m and four times more land for a playground.

Germany's DIY operator Bauhaus is also seeking a place on the market, where it will directly compete with Praktiker, Baumax and Mr. Bricolage.

Both chains are expected to announce their first stores in Sofia in the coming months, Capital Weekly reported.
