35% decrease in the newly built residential dwellings for the second quarter of the year

According to the preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute, in the second quarter of 2010 the newly built residential buildings were 576 and compared to the respectively quarter of 2009 decreased by 20.0%. The newly built dwellings in them decreased by 34.7% and their number was 4 119.

The largest number of the buildings has been built in the district Varna - 116 buildings, in the
district Burgas - 101 residential buildings, followed by Sofia capital and district Sofia - 53 and 43 buildings respectively.

In the second quarter of 2010 the useful area of the newly built dwellings was 298 thousand sq.m or 32.3% less than the same quarter of 2009. The living floor area of the dwellings decreased by 32.8% to 187.5 thousand sq. m.

At the same time the average useful area of a newly built dwelling increased from 69.8 sq. m in the second quarter of 2009 to 72.4 sq. m in the same quarter of 2010.

The biggest average useful area of a newly built dwelling was registered in the district Pazardzhik - 179.8 sq. m, followed by district Gabrovo - 151.0 sq. m, district Yambol - 115.3 sq. m and Sofia district - 110.8q. m and the smallest one in the district Kardzhali - 32.0 sq. m and district Pleven - 59.6 sq. m.

The statistical data about the newly built residential buildings and dwellings was developed on the basis of the quarterly reports obtained from the municipal administrations.
