Construction production drops in July

By the preliminary data of the NSI, the total construction production in July 2010 decreased by 19.9% compared to the same month of the previous year. A drop by 28.2% was registered in the production of building construction, while in the civil engineering production fell by 4.6% .

In July 2010, the construction production was by 2.5% below the level of the previous month. The production of building construction decreased by 2.1% and the civil engineering production - by 3.1%.

In the period January - July 2010, the total production in construction fell by 22.3% compared to the same period of 2009. The total decline was determined mainly from the drop in the building construction by 31.1%, while the decrease in the civil engineering production was by 4.5%.

The indices are calculated on the base of information on hours worked in the construction. The data is collected with monthly sample survey, which includes construction enterprises, which production exceeds 75% of the total production in construction.

The building construction includes construction of residential and no-residential buildings and civil engineering - infrastructure construction of roads, bridges, pipelines, power lines, telecommunication and other construction equipment.
