Athens-based Fourlis Group, the IKEA franchise-holder for Bulgaria, is planning to build a second store in the country, in the Black Sea city of Varna. The company is considering acquiring land in the city, Capital.gr indicated.
As Property Xpress earlier reported, Fourlis Group will open its first IKEA store in Bulgaria on September 15, following an investment of EUR 50 mln. Construction of the hypermarket was launched on June 3, 2010. The store will cover a 60,000 sq. m site at the intersection of Sofia Ring Road and Bistrishko Shosse Boulevard. The hypermarket will have a trade area of 28,700 sq. m and two-level parking lot for 1,407 cars.
Project developer is Sofia-based House Market Bulgaria EAD, solely owned subsidiary of Fourlis Group (except one share belonging to IKEA Group).
Fourlis Group currently operates five IKEA stores in Greece and one in Cyprus.
